First Band From TV DVD Available October 26

You may not have seen them strummin’ along, or even thought of them singing, but you’ve probably had Terri Hatcher or Hugh Laurie in your living room sometime in your life–on the TV, anyway. Combine these Desperate Housewives and House stars with fellow TV actors Greg Grunberg, Bob Guiney, Bonnie Sommerville, Adrian Pasdar, Jesse Spencer, and James Denton and you get Band From TV, the celeb octet dedicated to raising funds for their favorite charities through–you guessed it–song.

EcoRazzi has already told you about Heroes‘ Greg Grunberg’s dedication to the Epilepsy Foundation, a cause close to his heart; his oldest son has the disease. Other charities that benefit from Band From TV’s performances include Guiney’s cause, The Art of Elysium; Sommerville’s charity picks, the Child Abuse Prevention Program and the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence; The Conservation Fund, Denton’s choice; Spencer’s Indiana University-Kenya Partnership; Pasdar’s pick, the Rush Medical Center Pediatric Epilepsy Unit; and Laurie’s cause, Save the Children.

Damn, that’s a lot of causes. While it’s not the first time non-musician celebrities have united through music for charity (have you heard of Stephen King’s band, the Rock Bottom Remainders, featuring Amy Tan, Dave Barry and a bunch of other popular authors?), it’s still a lot of star power for some really great organizations.
