As we previously mentioned, Will Ferrell hooked up with Bear Grylls, host of Discovery’s Man vs. Wild, for a special-edition version of the survival show in northern Sweden’s ice-bound mountain ranges.

Grylls showed Ferrell what it takes to find food in the icy coniferous forests as they climbed trees, improvised snow shoes from saplings, drank their own urine and ate reindeer eyeballs. The video below shows us our first glimpse of some of the hilarity that ensued. My favorite quote from Ferrell: “I don’t know how I got myself into this….I don’t even like camping.” Check it out below:

The funnyman has teamed up with the charity Cancer For College to sell a new line of amusing sunscreens just in time for summer. Ferrell’s name and photo are splashed on three different lotions titled Sexy Hot Tan, Sunstroke and Forbidden Fruit. All of the money raised will go towards the charity, which gives scholarships to cancer patients.

“The bottle says it all. I’ve always dreamed of owning a lotion company,” Ferrell said. “Honestly, I’m proud to be associated with such a great charity. I’ve watched Craig and Cancer For College help hundreds of cancer survivors realize their dream of a college education. The stories are so inspirational. I’m just happy to help any way I can.”

Comedian Will Ferrell has survived a guest stint on the Discovery Channel show Man vs. Wild. The actor hooked up with host Bear Grylls, who took him through the paces of survival in northern Sweden’s ice-bound mountain ranges. The appearance is all part of a promotion for Ferrel’s new film debuting in June, Land of the Lost. From the article,

Obviously, this should be a very amusing espisode — though eating reindeer eyeballs is the last thing I’d like to see. Look for the episode to appear in June on Discovery.

Will Ferrell will make his Broadway debut in You’re Welcome America. A Final Night with George W Bush — and is offering a special performance to benefit the Actors Fund of America on Jan. 17th.

The Actors Fund is a non-profit organization that provides resources for entertainment professionals, including senior and disabled programs, mental health services, chemical dependency services and entertainment industry assistance programs. The group also runs the Phyllis Newman Women’s Health Initiative; the AIDS Initiative and helps provide low-cost housing for artists on both coasts.

After arriving at the Jane Goodall Institue Awards ceremony in November in a fuel-slurping Lincoln Town Car (to accept an environmental award no less), Pierce Brosnan is apparently sticking to his clean hydrogen car for all future events. The actor will hit the red carpet in his BMW Hydrogen 7 this Sunday for the 2009 Golden Globe Awards. This is probably one of the only green spots for an awards show that only a few years ago was swamped with “eco-friendly parties”.

Who else can we expect to arrive in eco-friendly style? Well, Leonardo DiCaprio is generally keen to take his Prius to such events — and Hilary Swank, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Will Ferrell, Jay Leno, Ed Norton, Cameron Diaz and Melissa Etheridge all participate in BMW’s H7 lease program. So, hopefully, Brosnan won’t be flying solo with the green cred on Sunday.

Earlier this summer (although I guess it’s actually fall now), Ecorazzi gave you a heads up that Will Ferrell would be once again hosting the annual Cancer For College Golf Classic and Live Auction on September 19th.

Cancer For College is an organization started by Craig Pollard (a friend of Ferrell’s from college) to help cancer survivors pay for college educations. Pollard was ecstatic about the turnout this year and said: “We gave out about 15 or 20 [scholarship checks] four years ago. Last year, it was around 100. This year, it’s exploded.” And by exploded he means that this year they raised a whopping $250,000!!

Because I think Ferrell is a comedy god, I was so happy to hear he started off the afternoon with a healthy dose of Ron Burgundy – his legendary character from Anchorman. Ferrell (aka Burgundy) said: “It is a glorrrious here in beautiful Son Diego, we’ve got a record turn out. I thought there’d be more media here frankly, for someone of my stature. In fact, I’ll have to say as I look out into the face of the media here, you guys look like a bunch of idiots compared to when I was in the news game. Have some class, some dignity. I don’t see anyone wearing a suit.”

Will is a long time supporter of not only CFC, but many other charities throughout the country. Pollard said: “His loyalty has been phenomenal. Those two commercials that he did for the Super Bowl – all that money went to the charity. Budweiser paid him $250,000, Proctor and Gamble $500,000.”

Monday night, 24’s Mary Lynn Rajskub and Bones’ Tamara Taylor opted for rides to Fox Television Network’s ECO-Casino Bash in the BMW Hydrogen 7. As we’ve covered in the past, the H7 is probably the most popular hydrogen vehicle to grace the red carpet at various movie/television events.

Beyond just taking one for a ride, some celebrties — such as Edward Norton, Will Ferrell, Jay Leno, and Jennifer Garner — are actually using the BMW H7 for their daily errands. The Cancer for College charity was started by Craig Pollard after he lost both of his feet while battling Hodgkin’s lymphoma and raises money to help cancer survivors pay for college educations. Pollard says: “They (Ferrell and his wife) bring an instant awareness to the charity that we probably couldn’t have achieved on our own. In life, people can choose to be charitable with their time or their money. Will and Viveca have been extremely generous to Cancer for College with both. He really goes out of his way to make sure everyone from the participants to the scholarship recipients and their families have a memorable day.”

Word comes today that the eco-friendly, marathon-running funnyman will star in the upcoming dramedy Two Face. According to dailystab.com, Ferrell will play “a virulent racist who develops a split personality after an accident, and his alter ego turns out to be a bleeding-heart liberal.”
