Missy Higgins, William Shatner Back Sierra Club’s 2% Initiative

Filed under: campaigns, video, web — michael @ 3:18 pm

As part of Sierra Club 2% Campaign — which seeks an 80 percent cut in carbon emissions by 2050, or 2 percent a year — celebrities such as singer Missy Higgins and actor William Shatner have produced PSAs urging action.

In the piece, Missy points out that “scientists say we need to make a big change in the amount of carbon that comes from our cars, our homes and our businesses.” Missy reminds us that being a part of the solution to global warming is everyone’s responsibility - governments, families, businesses - and that we need to cut our carbon emissions 80% by 2050. But she also says that we don’t need to do this all at once and that every little bit helps. If we can cut our carbon emissions by an average of 2% per year, we can stop some of the most damaging effects of global warming.

William Shatner Will NOT Sell His Hip Bone!!

Breaking news.

Filed under: donations, green and famous, shopping, thegreenpicture — parrish @ 4:24 pm

The leg bone’s connected to the knee bone, and the knee bone’s connected to the thigh bone, and the thigh bone ’s connected to the hip bone…(record scratch) HOLD UP!!! What’s the hip bone connected to? Oh yeah, the charity bone.

The always appropriate, William Shatner, has chosen NOT to sell his hip bone from a recent surgery, in fear it might be in poor taste.

Recently, the Priceline Negotiator sold a kidney stone to GoldenPalace.com for a whopping 75,000 dollars and donated the money to the Habitat For Humanity’s house building project in New Orleans.

William said that he was brought to tears upon receiving a photograph of the happy family who now had a place to live thanks to his dusty, old kidney stone. Therefore, it was only natural to ponder the potential earnings of a broken hip bone. However, at the end of the day he changed his mind.

Shatner said, “GoldenPalace.com gave me $75,000 for my ugly little kidney stone (and) I had this hip replacement less than four weeks ago and I thought, `How bad taste would it be to sell my hip bone?’ I then decided it was bad taste, and, for me to decide something is bad taste… it was really bad.”

Wait a second! This whole body part selling thing has given me a great idea. I’m gonna take this full-time and start a website called CelebrityLeftOvers.com where I will auction off bits and pieces of the rich and famous they no longer need. I’ll make millions! Don’t steal my business idea, Ecorazzi readers…patent pending!
