Jennifer Aniston, Will Ferrell, Fight For Freedom In Burma

Filed under: campaigns — michael @ 4:38 pm

Celebrities like Will Ferrell, Jennifer Aniston, Woody Harrelson, Jason Biggs, and Sarah Silverman are teaming up and delivering a different PSA for 30-days to help build support for democracy in Burma. This campaign comes at a particularly devastating time for the country, as a recent cyclone may have killed more than 10,000 people.

The 30-Days campaign is being sponsored by Fanista — which is kind of a social networking site for entertainment buffs. In addition to the films, Fanista is also giving 10% to the cause if you select “Burma” at cehck-out.

Will Ferrell’s video is below — and features the same quirky humor we’ve come to expect from him. After hitting MORE, you can also see videos featuring Jennifer Aniston, Woody Harrelson, and others. Since the campaign started about five days ago, we’re a bit behind. From now until its conclusion at the end of May look for the Raz to post a daily vid from the effort. For more information — and to add your voice — jump over to the official site here.

Woody Harrelson Talks Crap

Filed under: green and famous, healthy living, thegreenpicture — parrish @ 9:20 am

I know it. You know it. He knows it. ECORAZZI LOVES US SOME WOODY HARRELSON!

Woody continues to be a pioneer in sustainable living, veganism and pretty much all things green. Therefore it should come as no surprise that he’s DONE IT AGAIN! Rumor has it, the eco-saucy actor is currently developing a new non-toxic sewage treatment with scientists in Kentucky. Harrelson insists that this project will “revolutionize” the sewage systems across the world.

He tells Men’s Journal magazine, “Usually our government treats our toxic sewage waste with a bunch of even more toxic chemicals, and then declares it safe for drinking. The method we’re developing does it naturally with no chemicals, and it’s 85 to 90 percent clean when it comes out.”

Big ups to Woody Harrelson for continuing to fight the good fight for all those wonderful green causes! We take our organic, hemp caps off to you, sir!

Woody Harrelson Talks Marijuana And Home, Sweet Home

Filed under: interviews — michael @ 1:33 pm

harrelson.jpg

The Washington Post had a quick sit-down with actor Wood Harrelson on the eve of his latest film, The Grand. While sipping some herbal tea, Woody talks about poker, movies, legalization of marijuana, and the organic beauty of his home. Here are some highlights:

On whether or not marijuana should be legalized:

“Yes, both should be legal. It seems logical that in a free country you should be able to do whatever you want to do as long as it’s not hurting anyone else. It’s unfortunate that when I started talking about all this — and partly through my own fault — the focus became totally about marijuana, and hemp got marginalized. My whole focus was on a sustainable economy, which we still don’t have. But at least we’re talking more about the melting ice-caps and greenhouse gases. The problem is, nothing’s really changed yet and we live in a society where the economy is based on all these giant industries that are raping Mother Earth.”

On where he currently lives and what he loves about it:

“Mainly in Hawaii, on Maui, in this community of mostly organic farmers. We run off solar and wind and generators if necessary. I’ve been there nine years and it’s Shangri La to me. I have lots of fruit and coconut trees, and every day I swim, I surf, climb coconut trees, play with my kids, eat mangoes. There’s no form to it, which I kind of like.”

Razzi Snap: Harrelson’s Search For An Organic Toothbrush Delays Reporter

Filed under: animals, books — michael @ 5:34 pm

harrelson.jpgflowerYou can’t argue Woody Harrelson’s commitment to green living; although you might have to first wait patiently to even make the attempt. Such was the case for one New Zealand reporter who was left hanging for 40 minutes for an interview with the actor. Apparently, Harrelson was not about to use one of the plastic toothbrushes on location and sent away an assistant to track down an organic replacement. Almost an hour later, and with a freshly brushed set, he was ready to go. In traditional Kiwi style, there were no hard feelings. [via celebitchy]

flowerEd Begley Jr. has conquered the television world with his hit series Living With Ed, and is now set to strike out into publication with the new book Living Like Ed. As expected, this how-to will cover all aspect of going green — from transportation, recycling, energy, food, and clothing. Wife Rachelle also pens some portions of the book to offer some Yin to Begley’s Yang. [via amazon]

flowerLike most family disputes in the Hollywood circle, this one revolves around money — and a polar bear. Apparently, Knut the Polar Bear — the wildly successful ’symbol of climate change’ that’s been on the cover of magazines, has his own book, and recently sold movie rights — is being asked to dish over some of the $15 million he’s made. The zoo that owns his bio-dad, Lars, says it deserves that cash, while the Berlin Zoo where Knut currently resides, says that’s a bunch of bull. Neither side is backing down. We’re sorry Knut. But if it helps, Macaulay Culkin had the same trouble with his parents and he turned out OK. Kind of. [via newser]

Woody Harrelson Supports Focus The Nation In New Video

Filed under: campaigns — michael @ 2:14 pm

I saw Woody Harrelson in No Country For Old Men last night — and while I had absolutely no idea what his role in the movie was — I did enjoy the performance; as I do with almost everything he stars in.

His latest round of support for environmental initiatives comes from a video that’s just been released showing him talking briefly about the challenges we face with Global Warming. The campaign is part of a new push by Focus The Nation, a non-profit that seeks to educate and inform on the issue of climate change. On January 31st, the group will launch a national teach-in — intended to engage millions of students, faculty, staff and visitors at a thousand or more educational institutions around the USA in a discussion of Global Warming solutions. Here’s an excerpt from Woody’s short speech:

“Americans get that Global Warming is real, and yet we are paralyzed, somehow buying the lie that we can’t do anything to stop it. Clean energy solutions: wind, solar, geothermal, biodiesel, can end our addiction to fossil fuels, stabilize the climate, create tens of millions of jobs, and lay the foundation for a just and sustainable future.”

Thanks for the tip Linton!

Woody Harrelson and Owen Wilson Enjoy A Teepee In Peru

Irrigation ditch bathing also on the schedule

Filed under: green and famous, healthy living — michael @ 10:19 am

woodyowen.jpg

Woody Harrelson and Owen Wilson have been spotted in Peru roughing it out and attempting to blend in with the locals. A local celebrity program called ”Magaly TeVe” filmed the pair deep in Peru’s Andes bathing in an irrigation ditch wearing nothing but their boxer shorts. From the article,

“It showed the pair pouring handfuls of water over themselves under the highland sun. Harrelson and Wilson were reportedly visiting a local orphanage they support near Cuzco, the ancient Incan capital.”

That orphanage, Casa de Milagros, is just outside of a spiritual retreat the two are staying at called the Hanaq Pacha Retreat Center. Not only are the accommodations affordable ($50/night) but they’re also unique, with Woody and Owen spending their time in a eco-friendly teepee. The wood and canvas “malocas” sleep up to four people and feature furnishings created by local artisans and the kids of the of the orphanage.

The back-to-basics resort, also sponsored by Harrelson, is a yoga and spiritual retreat that has its own organic gardens that grows vegetables. Seems like a great getaway — and another insight into the great projects sponsored by Woody. Enjoy gents!
