How are we supposed to make changes when all these organic things are so overpriced. Now I understand the price is driven by supply and demand, but maybe it’s time to start making these things more affordable so more people can actually buy them.
I made the switch to organic food long time ago (Whole Paycheck Foods), but find it hard to pay $100 for organic t-shirt.
I admit that $100 for a T-shirt does seem quite a lot, but you also have to consider that it’s not so much that the eco things are over-priced but that everything else that we are used to buying is under-priced. Most clothing nowadays is only so cheap because somewhere in the process people making it aren’t paid enough to live on. If we’re going to buy things that have been made in a way that everyone involved is paid a living wage (as they should be) then we all need to adjust our idea of what something should cost us- and probably change our spending habits too!
That’s exactly what this post I wrote yesterday is about…“The Story of Stuff”. They sum it up nicely.
