Homemade Spicy Cool-Ranch ‘Doritos’
The following recipe starts from scratch, using simple ingredients that pack a serious flavor punch. With the right combination of spices and a few minutes to spare, you’ve got yourself a bottomless bowl of your favorite chips. Enjoy! Full recipe.
Sweet Potato Mac & Cheese
This recipe is a vegan version of macaroni and cheese. The cheese has a sweet potato base. Skeptical? I was too until I tried it. The sweet potato is baked and mixed with mustard and nutritional yeast to give it the “cheesy” taste. Nutritional yeast is one of those ingredients that has changed my life. It’s the only plant-based source of vitamin B12, which is music to vegans’ ears. It is super versatile and one of the few ways to match the taste of cheese without using dairy. Combining the “cheese” with whole-grain or whole-wheat pasta, the result is a rich, satisfying macaroni and cheese experience, without the food baby to show for it. Full recipe.
Goldfish Crackers by Chloe Coscarelli
Kids LOVE these all-natural homemade goldfish crackers. But let’s get real, adults
love ‘em too. I’ve made theses for 8-year-olds and 80-year-olds, and the response is
always the same: more please! No food coloring, no sugar, no cheese, no artificial
chemicals- just wholesome delicious fishies. I like to add a dash of ground black pepper
for a little spice, but some kids prefer it without. Full recipe.
Chocolate Mousse with Sea Salt
As we all know, there is no better combination than dark chocolate and sea salt. Made with avocados, the mousse is also vegan, but serve it to your non vegan friends and they’ll be so sold on the creamy chocolatey goodness that they’ll never notice the difference. You’ll get points for a posh dessert and no one will ever know that you made it in the frazzled half an hour that you had between your last work meeting and your dinner party. Full recipe.
Kale and Ginger Green Smoothie Recipe
A friend joked recently that if you’re kale obsessed you could call yourself a “kalivore.” Call yourself what you want, but a kale smoothie is the perfect way to start the day. Drink this first thing, and you’re quickly energized. Yes, it’s bright green and you might be a little skeptical about drinking it, but you’ll soon find that it’s a delicious and vitamin packed staple that you don’t want to go a morning without. Full recipe.
Spicy Roasted Chickpeas with Lime Recipe
There has been a lot of talk about the benefits of popcorn, but what about other worthy snacks that are quick to make and pack some taste? Start with these roasted chickpeas. The recipe is simple and straightforward and the end result is easily transportable, perfect for outdoor spring adventures. Full recipe.
Avocado Alfredo Sauce
One of my favorite ways to take advantage of avocados’ smooth ways, is to use them as the foundation for an Alfredo sauce. The garlic, lemon and basil cut the avocado taste and leave behind a fragrant and rich sauce that is as satisfying and comforting as its dairy, butter and egg-laden counterpart, which, by the way, will not be missed. Full recipe.
Instead of rolling through the drive-thru, consider making a homemade, “real” version of a burger. You’ll get all the taste with none of the awful health risks of chomping down on beef. Full recipe.
Deep Dish Vegan Pizza
Feel like some major comfort food? Look no further than this deep-dish pizza. The ooey gooey dough will make your mouth water and this recipe allows for plenty of room for creative toppings. Full recipe.
