On new years day Ne-Yo announced that he was going vegan to test his own discipline and due to his concerns about farm animal welfare.

While the R&B star maintains an incredible respect for vegans, he has decided to add fish back into his diet. Ne-Yo wrote, “Love for all the vegan support but I had to bring back fish. JUST FISH. Need the protein for the way I move. Lasted 35 days tho! #victory”

“Just fish” means that he’s staying cow, pig, chicken, etc. free as well as dairy and egg free.  In terms of impact on animals and the environment, he’s still doing more than the vast majority of Americans, even if he no longer qualifies as a vegan.

After notifying the world of his dietary change, he wrote, “MUCH RESPECT to all vegans out there!! That lifestyle is NOT for the weak!! Thanx for supporting me on my journey….”

Ne-Yo went vegan over night. Some say that a more gradual transition while you figure out all the new foods you’ll be eating is a better way to make the change. Perhaps the singer had to take a step back, but will maybe one day consider going fully animal free again.

Don’t blame vegans for the shame you feel about using animals

The shame Carly Lewis claims veganism casts over her is more likely the ghosts of moral uncertainty, spectres that are more likely fish than cows, wondering how morality can possibly be used as ammunition in favour of murder.
