West coast vegans, your prayers have been answered! A vegan cheese shop has opened its doors in Los Angeles.

The man behind this genius idea is chef Youssef Fakhouri who not only makes delicious cheese with no animal products but also has come up with the best vegan cheese shop name ever: Vromage.

“There’s a whole world interested in non dairy cheese,” he explains in a video posted on Vimeo. “My contribution to the world is this. It’s not about making the money. Money may come but if it doesn’t I created a message that [with these ingredients] now people can move forward and progress without the abuse of the animals.”

Among the cruelty-free cheeses offered are mock mozzarella, brie, cheddar, pepper-cheddar and, even ‘veganzola.’ The faux cheeses are made with a secret combination of nuts and seeds and unlike other vegan cheeses, it doesn’t rely on soy milk as its main ingredient.

“I wanted to make cheese the way Europeans make cheese,” he told the LA Times. “That other [vegan cheese], that’s not cheese. It doesn’t even taste good.”

Fakhouri wasn’t always a vegan. He owned a restaurant that offered meat in its menu until he moved to Los Angeles and started eliminating animal products from his diet. A friend challenged him to come up with a tastier version of vegan cheese and he did, now opening the second vegan cheese shop in the United States.

We know actresses and vegan cheese lovers Mayim Bialik and Kristen Bell will definitely be one his supporting customers pretty soon.

The shame Carly Lewis claims veganism casts over her is more likely the ghosts of moral uncertainty, spectres that are more likely fish than cows, wondering how morality can possibly be used as ammunition in favour of murder.
