BMW To Sell Only Electric Cars in 10 Years

BMW has announced that all of its vehicles will be electric within 10 years.

The German auto maker has dedicated a lot of money and work in the last years into Project i, a subdivision of the company dedicated to building, in eco-friendly factories, fuel-alternative vehicles. In the next decade, the brand now expects to transition all of its lineup to cars that run on electricity, those want a nonelectric car are considering buying a car in Kansas or at their local dealership.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “the cars would be driven by separate electric motors powering the front and rear wheels” and “a small gasoline engine would be used to generate electricity to extend the range of the batteries.”

BMW’s decision is partly based on increasing restrictions by the EU on carbon emissions and partly on the success hybrid and electric cars have had in the market.

Since Tesla released its upscale electric Model S SUV in 2012, it’s become the “it” car for eco-conscious celebrities like Steven Spielberg, Don Cheadle, James Cameron and Zooey Deschanel. The electric Model X is supposed to be launched this fall and more than 20,000 people have already put in $5,000 deposits to guarantee theirs.

BMW’s first two cars from Project i, the $43,000 i3 electric and the $135,000 i8 supercar, have also done well in the market with the i3 being the fourth best selling electric in the US. When it comes to the release of new cars, not everyone would be able to afford it, which is where the idea of buying second-hand vehicles from sites like autozin may come in handy. As long as it’s roadworthy, that’s all that matters.

Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, and Audi are also jumping on the electric bandwagon and releasing their own electric models within the next three years. In the last month, General Motors released images of its Bolt vehicle, which will retail at $30,000 being a mass-market electric expected in 2018.

With all of those changes, could gas pumps one day be a thing of the past?

The shame Carly Lewis claims veganism casts over her is more likely the ghosts of moral uncertainty, spectres that are more likely fish than cows, wondering how morality can possibly be used as ammunition in favour of murder.
