Pope Francis throws shade at Donald Trump, condemns immigration policy
Pope Francis has dropped what some might consider a huge truth bomb by challenging Donald Trump as a Christian. During a news conference that took place in an airplane (how’s that wifi?), the pope touched on the biggest hot button issue in the USA of 2016: our shitty, shitty election season. “A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian,” said Pope Francis, and he probably gave a little Kanye-shrug afterwards.
According to the New York Times, “Francis made his remarks about Mr. Trump barely three hours after he had concluded his Mexico trip by presiding over a huge Mass in the border city of Ciudad Juárez. He first walked to the edge of the Rio Grande — as American security officers watched from the other side — to lay flowers at a new memorial commemorating those who have died trying to cross the border.” He has been adamant from the beginning of his papacy in regards to his opinions on immigration.
Of course, nobody is perfect, even the Pope – he also made comments that condemned abortion in cases of Zika virus pregnancy, which causes severe birth defects.
