We Need More Groups Like The Silver City Vegan Support Group

We vegans have got to stick together. That’s why reading about The Silver City Vegan Support Group absolutely warms my heart.

In Silver City New Mexico, organizer Azima Lila Forest is making sure that anyone curious about the vegan lifestyle has a resource for information. The group was founded as a way to share people’s stories about going vegan, exchange recipes, and foster people interested in making the switch.

A woman after our own heart, Forest told Silver City Sun-News, “I definitely consider being vegan a lifestyle choice, as well as a dietary choice. For me, the ethical and environmental aspects of choosing to be vegan are more important than the health aspects, although those are beneficial, too.”

It’s encouraging to see chapters like this one popping up all over the world! They’re far from the only group making efforts to support vegan education, and we wish we had a gold star sticker to give then.

The group meets once monthly, occupying a local cafe. They can be joined on their Facebook page the rest of the time.
