Vegandale Brewery offers the ultimate vegan night out
For vegans, a night at the pub usually means sticking to the same beer you know to be isinglass or gelatin free, and either getting much too cozy with the questionable bar bowl of mixed nuts or ordering a second plate of plain, somehow-soggy-in-minutes fries. But thanks to the Vegandale Brewery in Toronto, vegans have a place to let loose this holiday season.
Bringing together the minds of local brew master Michael Duggan and renowned vegan comfort food creator Chef Doomie, Vegandale Brewery offers a robust vegan menu that eschews animal exploitation without compromising on choice or flavour. Located in the vibrant Parkdale community amidst the mecca of other Vegandale brands, this brewpub helps veganism shed its stay-home-and-eat-tofu stereotype.
Pull up to the bar and revel in the wood and copper beer tank on display while choosing between 16-ounce pours or a four flavour flight of any of their five cleverly named vegan beers including Principled Pilsner, See The Light Lager, Morally Superior IPA, The Sour Truth or The Shining Example Stout. Each pair great with a party starter like Doomie’s well loved Fried Mac Balls or a new addition to the Doomie’s legacy, the sweet and cheesy stuffed wonton wrapper Rangoons.
Vegandale Brewery has quickly become a spot for vegan meet-ups and get togethers, with loads of space in the dining room for larger reservations. Peanut Butter and Bacon Burgers and Philly Cheesesteaks are huge departures from the aforementioned “side dishes” that vegans are used to forcing down to stave off getting too sloshy, and are perfect for breaking in someone new to veganism. Large art installations throughout the space and conversation starters on each beer bottle are there to help the vegan curious better understand the reasons for veganism, too (hint: not using animals).
Saving room for dessert is always recommended, as ice cream from Vegandale Brewery’s roommate, Not Your Mother, can be delivered table side or prepared to go. Shakes, waffles and floats also round out this one of a kind vegan brewpub experience.
Vegans interested in hitting the bar can find Vegandale Brewery at 1346 Queen Street West and on Instagram @vegandalebrewery.
